Extracurricular Organizations
After School Activities Policy
Art Club
Art Club meets once a week, and is essentially a one-and-a-half hour period to work on Projects. The projects may be something the students have been working on in their art class during school hours, or they may wish to do extra projects. Art Club is offered to students in grades 3 - 5.
Basketball
Basketball is offered for all secondary students from November through January with a culminating International Schools of China tournament here at Wuhan Yangtze International School.
Odyssey
Odyssey “intends to be a catalyst and resource for teachers, students, and families in key areas of character, initiative/leadership and service so that individuals and communities reach their full potential as positive world-influencers” (Odyssey Overview Pamphlet).
Soccer
Soccer is offered for all secondary students from February through April with a culminating International Schools of China tournament at International School of Qingdao (MTI).
Student Council
Student Council is an opportunity for a group of secondary students to lead their fellow students in a better way of school.
Vocal Ensemble (Choir)
All secondary students are encouraged to participate in the WYIS choir this year. Choir will begin on Friday, September 17th from 3:15 – 4:35PM. This year we will be singing a variety of new music from many genres. If you have any questions please contact Ms. Miller.
Volleyball
Volleyball will be offered for all secondary students from August through October with a culminating International Schools of China tournament at Shenyang International School.
Wuhan Troupe
The Wuhan Troupe is offered to Upper Elementary (3rd-5th) as an after school activity every Thursday. It performs at assemblies and events like International Day, Christmas Program, and Fine Arts Show.
Yearbook
This is an after-school class offered to Middle and High School Students. Students work together to help our school commemorate a year of learning in the form of a book. High school students will receive 0.5 credits for this course.
